Medicare Open Enrollment Begins November 15: ARC Staff Available to Advise Seniors on Options
(ATLANTA - October 10, 2006) Medicare’s open enrollment period begins November 15 and seniors are encouraged to evaluate their current prescription drug plan to make sure it continues to meet their needs.
To decide whether to keep their current coverage or make a change, seniors should ask themselves three questions:
Will premium and co-pays change in 2007? If so, how? Do I need more coverage and will the plan cover the prescription medications I take? Am I satisfied with the plan’s service? Individuals who are satisfied with their current plan do not have to do anything to re- enroll. Those considering a change can compare plans at www.medicare.gov.
The GeorgiaCares unit of the Atlanta Regional Commission has experts available who can answer questions and help Medicare beneficiaries enroll. The agency advises seniors to enroll early to ensure they can get the prescriptions they need on January 1, 2007. The number to call is 1.800.669.8387.
